A
Brief History
When a personal web
site becomes a mega-site with two million plus hits a
year, people take notice. They want to know how and
why. They are convinced that there is some special
secret behind such phenomenal growth, but sometimes
there's no secret at all.
Iona Hoeppner's ionanet.com was such a site. She never advertised
and was too busy to even list with the search
engines, but the site kept right on growing.
Finally, it was time
to make some changes... and a new ministry was born.
Four new domains were thus initiated: web4christ.org, the parent organization is
an on-line association of believers who bring Christ
to the internet. It also offers a rich variety of
inspirational features and shares the Gospel in an
ad-free environment.
There are four
divisions operating under the auspices of Web4Christ: this site as well as Art4Christ, Handmaidens4Christ, and ionanet. All income or donations are used to
keep this combined ministry effort online and pay for
bandwidth costs.

& Technical Info
We lease top
flight server space with excellent features and
support, then resell them at a slight profit.
Although they don't tell you so, nearly all web
hosting companies do this.The big money companies
who own cutting edge server equipment worth
millions would rather sell in bulk to smaller
companies who then resell the space and deal with
all the hassles of customer service, etc.
- To make this
appealing to web resellers, the big boys offer
the latest in technology and safety solutions as
well as excellent tech support via e-mail. They
have also provided a variety of scripts and other
goodies for resellers to offer their customers.

- The arrangement we
have is not like the so-called reseller accounts
available from many web hosting companies who in
reality are resellers themselves. In those cases,
the hosting company offers large space allotments
(which are almost never completely used)
suggesting the customer become a reseller. The
problem is there are set up fees and the
"reseller" has no control of server
side functions. Often there are added fees if the
customer wishes to host other domains. Thus,
these resellers are not true web hosting
companies at all, just misled customers of web
space resellers who lease and control space on
servers.
