ODBC Database
We support ODBC databases. This means you can develop a database on Microsoft Access, upload the Access file to your account using FTP, create a System DSN link to the file, and then connect to it using iHTML, Cold Fusion, or ASP. Databases could be use to store information for a catalog, a news feed, a message board, and many other typical web applications. A System DSN is how Microsoft maps ODBC links to actual files on the server. Once a System DSN links to your file, you can use ODBC to connect to the file. Our customers can use ODBC for free You can set up as many ODBC links as you need for free. If you need one ODBC link, it is free. If you need one hundred ODBC links, it is still free. There is no setup fee for ODBC links. There is no monthly fee for ODBC links. We do not charge anything for ODBC links to Access databases.
iHTML Enterprise Enabled
iHTML is a powerful server side scripting language that you can use at no additional charge. iHTML is an excellent tool for creating dynamic content, and for connecting to ODBC databases. It is very similar to Cold Fusion and Active Server Pages. iHTML is powerful, yet very easy to use. In fact, most iHTML tags look very similar to HTML tags, so learning iHTML is easy. Two steps to using iHTML within an existing .ihtml page: 1) place <!iHTML> in the first line 2) place other iHTML tags within the document iHTML can do anything that requires server-side activity. iHTML can do everythingthat ASP, Cold Fusion, and CGI would normally be used for. Since iHTML runs lightning fast, it is often preferable to use iHTML instead of CGI. iHTML can connect to databases, connect to remote web servers, dynamically format the page, add the current date to an existing page, show the time on a page, write gif files on the fly, execute complex logic statements, and much more. iHTML is considered to be a full language in many respects, since it can do such a wide variety of tasks. We currently have iHTML Enterprise 2.18 installed on our servers.
Cold Fusion 4.0 Enterprise Enabled
Cold Fusion is a powerful server side scripting language that you can use at no additional charge. Cold Fusion is an excellent tool for creating dynamic content, and for connecting to ODBC databases. It is similar to iHTML and Active Server Pages. To use Cold Fusion, the page must have a .cfm filename extension. Cold Fusion can connect to databases, connect to remote web servers, dynamically format the page, add the current date to an existing page, show the time on a page, execute complex logic statements, and much more. We currently have Cold Fusion Enterprise 4.0.1 installed on our servers. We may upgrade to CF 4.51 at some point in time, but have no immediate plans to do so. Disabled Tags: CFDIrectory, CFRegistry, and CFObject are disabled for security reasons. We do not allow any 3rd party Cold Fusion tags. Cold Fusion Help Your local book store should have several good books about Cold Fusion programming.
CGI-BIN
Every webmaster has heard about CGI. CGI lets you run a program on the server. Comment forms, message boards, and web counters are some of the common uses for CGI. While not nearly as fast as ASP or iHTML, CGI is still the preferred option by many webmasters. Each account comes with CGI-BIN at no extra cost. That means you can start building a dynamic web site right away using CGI. We have support for Perl, Visual Basic 4, and Visual Basic 5 scripts, but we do not consult in these areas.
Active Server Pages Enabled
ASP is a powerful server side scripting language that you can use at no additional charge. ASP was originally developed at Microsoft for use with their freeware IIS web server package, but it is also supported by WebSite Pro 2.x, which we use. ASP is a powerful tool for creating dynamic content, and for connecting to ODBC databases. Documents that have the .asp extension will be processed as an ASP document. ASP can connect to databases, dynamically format the page, execute complex logic statements, and much more. We support the use of VBScript, JavaScript, and PerlScript within Active Server Pages with VBScript set as the default scripting language. You can easily build form to email solutions using ASP. All of the servers in our server cluster have both ASPEmail and JMail components installed, so you can use those in your ASP pages. We do not and will not help debug ASP scripts. If you cannot get your ASP
scripts to work properly, consult the Microsoft website or one of the readily available books about ASP.
SQL Server
We offer SQL Server database hosting. We do not charge a setup fee for creating SQL Server databases. There is no monthly fee for using SQL Server databases. Database driven websites will benefit noticeably from SQL Server database hosting. Compared to MS Access, MS SQL Server is faster and more reliable. SQL Server databases can be used in ASP, Cold Fusion, and iHTML SQLbased websites. SQL Server can boost the performance of dynamic content such as news feeds, message boards, and shopping carts.

Each SQL Server database is growable database with an initial limit of 30 MB by default, 20 MB for data and 10 MB for the transaction log. All SQL Server databases are set up so the user for that database has dbo privileges. You can connect to your SQL database using Access 2000 or SQL Server Enterprise Manager on your local Win9x/WinNT/Win2k PC. Our SQL Server runs Microsoft SQL Server 7 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server, which provides a stable database platform for database driven sites.
SSL - Secure Sockets Layer
SSL certificates offer a secure method for transmitting and receiving sensitive information (such as credit card numbers, medical documents, legal writings, and similar). When your website is ready for e-commerce, an SSL certificate will be one piece of the overall e-commerce solution. You can requests SSL certificates for your website. There is no monthly cost for using SSL, but we do charge a $130 setup for each SSL Certificate Request file. Thawte (or Verisign) will also charge a setup fee for issuing the SSL Certificate.
Statistics - Log Files
Log files give an accurate picture of who is coming to your site, what they viewed at your site, and where they came from. Each domain is given its own log file. We will mail your log files periodically as you prefer. If you do not wish to receive a log file for a given domain, simply let us know. Log files can be parsed with most spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel, or with custom programs like MarketWave's HitList. The log file output is a tab-delimited file, so most Windows applications are able to import the data. A detailed specification for the log file format can be found at the following URL: http://software.oreilly.com/techsupport/white/winlog.htm
Java Servlets
We do not host Java Servlets at this time. Servlet engines are known for causing way too many problems for any production environment. We decided that more users wanted uptime than servlets. We may add support for servlet into our list of features at some point in the future if servlet engine technology improves considerably.
Server Side Includes
You can use simple SSI tags within pages to automate many frequent server side functions, such as including a common toolbar within multiple pages. Server side include tags can be used within any pages that have the .shtml filename extension.
